Anreise:

The circular route begins and ends in Emsdetten. Cycling enthusiasts can travel here by car or public transport as well as by bike.

Travelling by car:

Emsdetten is excellently connected to the road network via several main roads. We recommend travelling via the A1 motorway (Cologne-Münster-Bremen) via the Greven exit (coming from the south) and continuing on the B 481 or via the Ladbergen exit (coming from the north) and continuing on the B 475.

From the direction of Emsland and the Netherlands, we recommend travelling via the A 30 motorway (Amsterdam-Osnabrück) to the Rheine-Nord exit. Continue via the B 70 towards Rheine and then via the B 481 towards Emsdetten.

Travelling by train:

Emsdetten has its own railway station in the immediate vicinity of the city centre and is served by various regional trains. There are direct connections to Münster, Rheine, Krefeld, Cologne, Wuppertal, Lingen and Emden, for example.

Beschreibung:

The route starts in the centre of Emsdetten. From there, the lakes and salt works circuit leads via Mesum and Hauenhorst to Rheine. To the north of Rheine, at Bentlage Monastery, you can discover the salt works as well as the zoo and the salt boiling house. The route continues through the Stovern estate forest to the Haddorf lakes, where you can cool off in the water or enjoy a refreshment at the lake café. You can also take a break at Offlumer See. The route then leads via Wettringen past the Emsdettener Venn, one of the last raised bogs in the region, and back to Emsdetten.
