Old water mill
Ladbergen
Since 1748, there has been a water mill in the centre of Ladbergen directly on the Mühlenbach. Initially, a smaller mill was built on the south side of the stream, and later a larger one on the north side. Typical for Ladbergen, the mills were built as half-timbered buildings. A beautiful photo motif and a wonderful place for a break on a cycling tour or while hiking.
Tour informationThe Old Water Mill can only be visited from the wayside.
History informationThe small mill in the south of the Mühlenbach was built in 1748 and is also called the old "Lütke" or Frenking'sche Mühle. It was originally built as a Prussian tax mill. Until the turn of the century it served as a grinding mill, then as a wheelwright's workshop. Today it is used as a holiday home.
The northern part of the mill is much newer and was built in 1890 to replace the old mill. It already has a turbine drive and was in operation until the 1950s.
