Museum Sachsenhof Greven

Greven

The open-air museum "Sachsenhof" near Greven gives visitors as vivid and lifelike a picture as possible of the early medieval Saxon way of life. The site was modelled on archaeological finds and has a herb garden with medicinal and dye plants. Cereals and legumes also have their place in the field area of the farm complex.

Even today, flax cultivation for the production of the textile fibre linen is a focal point of the Sachsenhof. On the annual activity days, visitors can learn about the domestic handicrafts of the time and take part in flax processing, spinning with the hand spindle and weaving on the stand loom. The textiles made of wool and linen can even be dyed with the help of the cultivated dye plants.

Families in particular can spend eventful and exciting hours at the Sachsenhof.
