The exhibits in the Mettingen School Museum tell of diligence cards and sponge boxes, of writing and sitting still. Personal originals and contemporary rarities provide insights into the history of the so-called dwarf schools - the small Bauerschaftsschulen. These one- to two-class institutions were mostly found in the villages until their closure in the mid-1960s.

The Mettingen School Museum keeps the memory of these school forms and contents alive - with originals, pictures, information texts on pedagogy, learning methods and everyday school life. In addition, special exhibitions and guided tours are offered. Interested visitors can obtain nostalgic souvenirs such as blackboards, pencils, little pictures and much more.

The rooms of the museum are provided by the municipality of Mettingen. The municipality is the owner of the Schultenhof. The museum is supported by the Förderverein Mettinger Schultenhof e.V. A museum team was formed by the members of this association, which takes over all the tasks of the museum on a voluntary basis.
