From the end of March to the end of October, the LWL Museum of Natural History offers a free exhibition on the history of the formation of the sinkhole lakes, the habitats and the flora and fauna in the Heiliges Meer nature reserve.
The Heiliges Meer Education and Research Centre offers excursions, seminars and scientific investigations as well as courses for schools, universities and natural science associations or groups.
Tour information- The nature reserve is open to visitors all year round.
- The exhibition of the LWL Museum of Natural History at the Holy Sea can be visited from the end of March to the end of October.
- Guided tours and courses for school classes or groups are possible at any time on request.

ArrivalThe Holy Sea is located in the northern Münsterland between Recke and Hopsten.
Getting there by car:
A30 motorway, Hörstel exit, approx. 8 kilometres.
First follow Bergeshöveder Straße, Herthaseestraße, Uffelner Weg and Nordbahnstraße in a northerly direction. Then turn left onto Bergstraße and follow the signs towards Heiliges Meer.
Arriving by train:
Ibbenbüren railway station, Esch, distance approx. 7 kilometres.
Journey time by bike about 30 minutes.
Connection from Ibbenbüren and Hopsten with bus line R27 to the "Heiliges Meer" stop.
Parking
A public car park is located about 250 metres from the LWL field office on Hugostraße.
