Kirschlehrpfad
Hagen am Teutoburger Wald
The cherry nature trail takes you through the largest collection of sweet cherries in Germany. The approximately 365 trees form a colorful hodgepodge of different old varieties, all more or less threatened with extinction. Some of the last trees of their variety serve as a source of so-called "Reiser": shoots for grafting new trees of this variety. Hagen's task is to nurture and care for these "mother trees".
In order to meet the care requirements, the municipality has brought in reinforcements in the form of sheep. The grazing serves to keep the trees free and has a positive effect on the entire area as an extensive landscape conservation measure.
Enjoy the relaxing view of cherries and animals. Please note, however, that the fences are usually electrified. The bees on the nature trail in spring also need their space. The area is clearly marked.
