Salzbergen

The people of Salzbergen affectionately call their Hengemühlensee the "Blue Lagoon". And the lake's fine sandy beach does indeed resemble the romantic tropical beach in the classic film of the same name. In the north, residential development extends right up to the water's edge, while the shore is left in its natural state on the other sides.

The adjacent Emstal nature reserve can be explored on cycle paths and hiking trails.
