The Draiflessen Collection is a special art museum away from the big metropolises, founded in 2009 by the founding family Brenninkmeijer in Mettingen. The cultural institution originated where the ancestors of the Brenninkmeijer family lived in the 17th and 18th centuries, the so-called Tüötten. The Tüötten were Westphalian itinerant traders who travelled through Germany and northern Europe to trade in linen.

Today, the art museum regularly presents exhibitions related to socially relevant topics, which are illuminated from both artistic and scientific perspectives. In addition to the exhibitions, there has been the Liberna Collection since September 2012. This contains a high-ranking and extensive collection of manuscripts, miniatures, incunabula, books, prints, hand drawings and paintings. The works are mainly from the 15th to 17th centuries and are on permanent loan to the Draiflessen Collection. The collection consists of 4000 objects, which are accessible to academically interested visitors by prior appointment. Since November 2018, "DAS Forum" has also been a part of the Draiflessen Collection. This archive is home to objects and documents, evidence of the Brennikmeijer family and company history, which can also be viewed during a visit.
