August Dutchman Museum

Emsdetten

The museum, which opened in 1993, shows the development of Emsdetten from an agricultural, artisan village of weavers to an industrial town. The museum deals with industrialisation in the textile industry and its effects on people's lives from the middle of the 19th century until the town became a city in 1938. The museum is located on the museum island at Hof Deitmar near Emsdetten's city centre. In addition to the August-Holländermuseum, the Wannenmachermuseum as well as the Speichermuseum and a bakehouse are also located here.
