Aatal- und Moor-Route
Spelle
A circular tour where almost everything revolves around the theme of water. If you start in Spelle, you first cycle along the small Speller Aa river to Venhaus. All that remains of the castle that once dominated the village is the moat, which today surrounds a charming park and the church of St. Vitus.
Continue on to the Dortmund-Ems Canal and Venhaus lock, then back along the Speller Aa and to Blauer See and Lünner See. There is a bathing area at both. In the direction of Lünne, you will come across the Große Aa and expand your knowledge of water on the Wassermühle Lünne nature trail. You can also make music with the tree-trunk xylophone or compete with animals in the long jump. The Landhausbrauerei Borchert brewery offers hearty refreshments and refreshments.Back towards Spelle, you follow the course of the Giegel Aa for a while and reach the Speller Dose nature reserve with its exciting nature trail. Protected here is the remains of a raised bog that has shrunk over the centuries due to peat extraction and drainage. The old drainage channels cross your path again and again. Finally, you could visit the fantastic museum of the agricultural machinery manufacturer Krone in Spelle. Some of the tractors are over 100 years old and there is even an American "prairie thresher" from the 1940s on display. However, a visit to the "Speller Welle", the popular family swimming pool, would be more appropriate.Stage locations along the route: Spelle, Venhaus lock, Lünne, Beesten, SchapenAttention!
